Rijeka beats Cibalia and wins the first championship title in their history
On Monday, 10 October, Stojan Osojnak passed away at the age of 93. A man who spent more than 1,300 days managing HNK Rijeka in the 60s, the Rijeka club icon will always be remembered.
Osojnak was a true legend, woven into the very fabric of Rijeka football history. He moved on to the fields of heaven with the distinction of being the coach who spent the most time in continuity on Rijeka’s bench.
He also left a lasting mark on Dinamo, winning the championship in 1954, striking the winning score against Red Star in the final moments of the match.
Still, his heart beat for Rijeka and Kantrida. Last year he took the first shot of the match between Rijeka and Rijeka All Stars on the day of Rijeka football and humanity.
On that occasion, Damir Mišković, chairman of HNK Rijeka, gave Stojan a jersey with the number 92, and with his Kantrida bathed in sunshine, the Rijeka legend took the first shot. He was rewarded with a warm round of applause.
A year and a half later, Stojan Osojnak left us. He was a true legend of Rijeka football.
